Traditionally

When booking freight for future shipments, shippers cannot be certain how much they are actually paying on the fuel surcharge until that freight actually ships.

Now

Shippers can know exactly how much their surcharge will be at the time of booking. Carriers receive the same fuel surcharge amount they expect when transporting freight.

NO CHANGE FOR CARRIERS

Carriers receive the same fuel surcharge amount they expect.

HOW IT WORKS

For load bidder

WHEN BIDDING ON A LOAD

When bidding on a load, you can put in a second bid with an all-in flat rate. You decide the haul rate, and TankWallet tells you the exact amount of fuel surcharge for that load based on the fuel surcharge formula you and your shipper use. If the shipper chooses this bid, you pay TankWallet the fuel surcharge rate (included in the flat rate) to lock in the fuel surcharge for this load.

WHEN THE LOAD SHIPS

When the load ships, TankWallet pays you back the fuel surcharge amount based on the DOE average at the time of shipping. You then use that money to pay the carrier. Invoice your shipper as you normally do. TankWallet’s service fee is “rebated” from the shipper’s payment because our quote at the time of booking includes the service fee.

HOW IT WORKS

For shippers working directly with carriers

WHEN BOOKING A LOAD

When booking a load, you can buy a fixed surcharge program from TankWallet for your load. The amount you pay TankWallet will be the full amount of fuel surcharge this load costs you. From now on, TankWallet takes on the risk of the fuel price fluctuation entirely, no matter what happens to the fuel price at the time of shipping.

WHEN THE LOAD SHIPS

When your load ships, TankWallet pays you back the full amount of fuel surcharge billed by your carrier which usually is based on the DOE average at the time of shipping.

* Base Price (or Peg), Miles per Gallon (or Escalator) are completely set by you. Every company has a different fuel surcharge table, and TankWallet can work with any existing settings on these numbers.

** TankWallet charges a small fee to take on the risk of fuel prices rising. The risk increases as the loads ship further out from now. A load shipping sooner will result in a lower fee.

*** DOE prices are updated every Monday on www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel.
